“Pentecost (John 20: 19-23)” by Fr. Jim Willig

This Sunday is Pentecost – the birthday of the Church.  This Gospel of John highlights the time when Jesus appeared to the Disciples in the Upper Room after His Resurrection. Jesus breathed the Spirit into them and said “Peace be with you.”

After the Ascension, the Disciples were once again afraid, hiding in the Upper Room when the Spirit descended upon them. Because of the Spirit, they were filled with hope and courage and took up the work of spreading the Good News – the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
