“Blessed Are The Persecuted” by Fr. Michael Sparough, S.J.

Fr. Michael Sparough, S. J.  shares the last of the 8 Beatitudes; “Blessed are the persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Fr. Michael explains how the beatitudes are radically counter cultural. How could we be blessed because we are persecuted? This is the pascal mystery!

This beatitude reminds us that suffering is inevitable in life, especially if we stand for something. Jesus is calling us to love, no matter what the cost or the consequence.
