“Blessed are the Meek” by Fr. Michael Sparough, S.J.

Fr. Michael shares the third beatitude, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”

This beatitude focuses on how the Lord calls those who are tired to come to Him and He will give them rest. The ‘meek’ are those who are gentle and humble of heart, imitating the Lord Jesus.

Sometimes when we think of the meek, we think of those who are pushovers, but this in incorrect. Jesus was strong in His meekness. He could rebuke those who were against Him and God the Father, but He could then turn and play with the little children. A perfect example of Jesus’ meekness is when He came upon the woman who was going to be stoned for adultery.
