This week Fr. Michael Sparough shares the first Beatitude, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Fr. Michael shows how this beatitude is the keystone of all of the beatitudes. The poverty of spirit is “putting on the mind of Christ!” It is a state of radical vulnerability.
This first beatitude sets the foundation for the the rest. We need to realize that everything in our lives is a gift. When one is spiritually poor, one realizes that God is all.
Fr. Michael shares the life of St. Ignatius of Loyola. He is the perfect example of this beatitude.
