“When Life is Not Fair” is from Matthew’s Gospel. This Scripture addresses the parable about the landowner who needs to hire workers for his vineyard. It is one of the most frustrating parables for all of us to understand, because it seems to defy logic.
This landowner hires workers at different times throughout the day. When the workday is over, the ones hired last are paid their money first. Those who were hired first felt they deserved much more money, but when the landlord gave them their day’s wages, they received the same amount as those who only worked one hour. Of course, these workers were upset by this transaction.
