It is so hard to believe that many of our children and grandchildren have already started back to school. It is even harder to think that Autumn is almost upon us. Some readers may still have a week or at least a weekend coming up to spend some time away from home.
A ‘vacation destination’ is packed with feelings of anticipation of fun, rest and relaxation. Unfortunately, the preparation to get ready for the week or weekend away can be so overwhelming that it may take your breath away.
As you watch the attached video by Tammy Bundy, you may reminisce as she does of a past vacation, or you may envision the one coming up. With all of these mixed feelings of excitement and stress, remember why you are going away. It is to take time to be with the ones your love.
Although a vacation is a time to get away, it is also a time to reconnect. It is often these moments that we treasure the most for all of our lives. As we look back at our own family vacations when we were young, we may see how our parents and grandparents wanted the best for us. They often chose to do the activities that would bring us the joy and adventure that we so desired.
This is exactly what Jesus offers to us. He continues to want to take us on vacation away from our daily chaotic lives and bring us to a place of rest. As Jesus called his own apostles and disciples to follow him to walk on new ground, He is making the same invitation to all of us. The roadmap is already present. Scripture provides us a pathway to the true vacation destination – the road to heaven and everlasting life with Almighty God.
(John 14:6) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
So as you remember past vacations and prepare for the next one, remember to invite Jesus to show you the way and bless you as move to your destination.
God Bless You All!
